What are the best chickens for laying eggs and who don’t make much noise?

My mum and dad want us to get some chickens.
But they want to know is there a specific breed that is known for producing really good eggs? And possibly one that isn’t too noisy.

Chickens aren’t generally too noisy, they can make a bit of a racket when they lay an egg but it doesn’t last long, its as if they are showing off lol. Cockerels make the noise but you don’t need a cockerel for the hens to lay eggs, they will lay regardless.

Keeping hens is a big committment, you have to be there every day to let them out and shut them in at night to keep them safe from predators. If you go on holiday or even just out for the night someone reliable has to do this otherwise the fox might take them and that is very sad.
